An exploration of an important part of so many of the Isle of Man's great Manx Gaelic place names; Beg/Veg and Mooar/Vooar.
There are many places all over the Isle of Man which have 'Beg' (or 'Veg') as a part of their name. There is a very good reason for this, and knowing what it means helps us understand something of the history of the place.
And, of course, understanding the meaning of 'beg' explains why there is sometimes a 'mooar' (or 'vooar') to be found nearby...
This is one in a series of films exploring the Manx in places names all over the Island.
This film was produced by Culture Vannin in 2021.
Culture Vannin exists to promote and support all aspects of culture in the Isle of Man.
