Dedicated to the Gaelic Language of the Isle of Man

Glossika on-line Manx course

Culture Vannin is pleased to announce the official launch of the on-line Manx Gaelic course, Glossika.

Glossika is a team of linguists and polyglots based in Taiwan that are dedicated to changing the way people learn foreign languages: the aim is fluency through a natural immersion self-training method.

The Glossika team has already analysed and launched over 60 of the most widely spoken languages from around the world and now in a joint-project with Aberdeen University and Culture Vannin the course is available in Manx.

Adrian Cain, the Manx Language Development Officer, for Culture Vannin commented, ‘that this is a fantastic addition to the already substantial body of on-line material available for the learner of Manx. It is also great that Glossika are providing the course free to leaners as a way of supporting minority languages. This will be of long-term benefit to the language and culture of the Island’.

The course which consists of over 3,000 sentences that increase in difficulty according to the needs of the learner can be accessed for free from Glossika here

The official launch has been timed to coincide with OurIsland Culture Month and is one of a series of projects coordinated by Culture Vannin that will strengthen the cultural identity of the Island.
