It's almost time for the Cooish Manx language festival, jeeagh er ooilley ny taghyrtyn yindyssagh heese!
Bee yn Chooish goll er cummal eddyr Jecrean 6oo - Jedoonee 10oo Mee Houney. Foddee peiagh erbee goaill ayrn ayns taghyrt, s'cummey cre'n mooad's dy Ghaelg t'oc - ta failt currit er dy chooilley pheiagh!
The Cooish will take place between Wednesday 6th - Sunday 10th November. Anyone can participate in an event, regardless of their level of Manx - everyone is welcome!

There will be 26 events taking place this year, including workshops, talks, music, and lots of chances to play games, speak Manx, and even make cocktails through Manx! All events are free, unless otherwise stated!

Events and projects are organised by the community, and the programme is pulled together by Yn Greinneyder (the Manx Language Development Officer for Culture Vannin).

Pop-up Manx class for total beginners. Learn greetings, how to introduce yourself and others, and ask for and offer refreshments in Manx! Limited space: email gaelg@culturevannin.im

6pm – 7pm: Ned Maddrell Lecture (in English)
"Thomas Christian’s Pargeiys Caillit: Manx masterpiece", Prof. Max W. Wheeler. Lecture in English giving a fresh appraisal of the Manx retelling of Milton’s epic poem Paradise Lost.
Hosted by Possan Ronsee Gaelgagh – Manx Language Research Group (Yn Çheshaght Ghailckagh), with support from Manx National Heritage.

6.30pm – 8pm: Family games night
Run by, and for, young people! Fun, easy games in Manx, run by QEII Manx club. Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult. FREE entry but bring some money for refreshments! Food available from 6pm.

Learn easy part-songs, with Joy Dunlop and Ruth Keggin Gell. Everyone is very welcome – you don’t have to have spoken or sung in Manx or Scottish Gaelic before! Grab a friend and join in!

2pm: Snaue as Skeet
Go sea swimming in Ramsey with a friendly group, and learn some simple sea-themed Manx phrases and words. Warm up after with a cosy cuppa at Studio Umami. Hosted by Chrissy Callaghan, Dot Saunders & Paul Salmon.

4pm – 6pm: Fastyr Fynoderee Cocktail making workshop and a mini distillery tour through Manx

6.30pm Bilingual church service
