Dedicated to the Gaelic Language of the Isle of Man

Job opportunities with Manx educational charity, Mooinjer Veggey

Mooinjer Veggey is an educational charity which exists to promote the knowledge and use of Manx Gaelic among young people. Established in 1996, it currently runs 'Possan Cloie' (play group), a nursery in St. John's, and supports the Bunscoill Ghaelgagh. Their aim is to provide education with or through the Manx language, giving children the advantages of learning a second language at an early age.

The charity has three positions available; an Operations Manager; a Project Officer; and a Bank Nursery Assistant. They have asked us to share details of the posts - you can find out more via Mooinjer Veggey's website, and via specific links below. The closing dates for the Operations Manager and Projects Officer posts are 9th December.

Operations Manager:
"Would you like to help lead the Island’s largest Manx Gaelic charity? Do you have skills in management, business or charity leadership or experience as a manager in early years education?

You don’t need to be a fluent Manx speaker for this role, but what is essential is excellent administrative skills and the experience to provide leadership to our growing number of staff, contractors and volunteers. If you think you could do some or all the above, Mooinjer Veggey would be keen to hear from you."

We are looking for a well-organised and enthusiastic individual to further the aims of our charity to promote education and community development through Manx Gaelic.

The projects may vary but are currently focussed in 2 areas:

  • To support and develop Possan Cloie groups; develop links with other pre school groups, encouraging new families to use Manx.

The post is for 24 hours a week, however we are also interested in hearing from people who may just want to take on either the element of the post 12 hours a week."
